A River Runs Through It

Tristan is desperate to go fishing.  The South of Chile is full of fish in the rivers and lakes and sea.  He has gone fishing now in the ocean, thanks to Richardo and Andres Nogales, and now he wants to fish in a river.  He's hooked.  Pun intended.

Kiko hired a guide with a boat in Villarica to take them fishing on the Rio Tolten, which started at the mouth of Lake Villarica.

Off they row!

"It was awesome!" is the official word from both Kiko and Tristan.  They thought the guide was great. Tristan caught three rainbow trout and Kiko caught one.  The water was clear and cold and they could see the volcano (Villarica) in the distance.

They had to catch the bait (I think it was crawdads) and Tristan was so excited when he caught his first fish!

Catching the bait in the river.

The first catch - and it's a big one.

His first words to me were that his Papa would be so proud of him.

Here they come, rowing into the takeout with a fish on the line!
Showing off the catch of the day.

This is a very proud fisherman.

Afterward, the guide cleaned and filleted the trout for us.
Look at them showing off by catching a fish in front of us!

Here are Fer and Antonia waiting for the guys to come in to the take out.

And this is our delicious dinner:
